High Performance 1 (HP1) Coaching Certification

If you are coaching at the U15, U16, U18, or Junior A levels, you may be required to obtain High Performance 1 (HP1) certification as part of the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP). Hockey Saskatchewan has opened applications for the upcoming HP1 seminar, and we encourage eligible coaches to apply.

High Performance 1 (HP1) Certification – NCCP Overview

Our HP1 seminar is set and applications are open. When appointing coaches to your high-performance teams, be aware of the timelines.

All head coaches that are coaching at the highest level as determined by the branch must be High Performance 1 certified.

This includes Saskatchewan coaches coaching male & female – U15 AA, U15 Prep, U16AA, U16 Prep, U17 Prep, U18 Prep, U18 AAA, Junior A & Canadian Sports School Hockey League.

2025 Seminar Schedule:

? April 10 – Application deadline
? April 12 – Successful candidates contacted
? April 20 – Full payment due
? May 21 – Virtual orientation & group session
? May 23 to 25 – HP1 National Virtual Weekend
? May or June (TBD) – Virtual multi-sport modules
? June 6 to 8 – HP1 in-person seminar in Regina (Finalized in May)

? Attendance is mandatory for ALL sessions.
? The seminar will be delivered through virtual, in-person, and recorded sessions.

Selection Process:

All coaches applying for NCCP High Performance Level I Certification through this seminar will be subject to selection by the Hockey Saskatchewan Coaching Committee.

Priority will be given to coaches who:
✅ Are currently or will be coaching in male or female programs that require HP1 certification
✅ Are already certified at Development 1
✅ Meet the minimum requirement of 20 participants (Max: 30 coaches)
