U15 DIVISION (2011–2012): ELEVATING YOUR GAME

U15 is a pivotal stage in a young hockey player’s development. As players transition from minor to major hockey, the U15 level demands higher skill, increased physicality, and growing mental toughness. Our program is designed to challenge and support players as they push toward their full potential.

Program Overview:

  • Program Levels: Our U15 Division will ice AA and A teams competing in the Saskatchewan Female Hockey League.
  • Advanced Skill Mastery: Refine skating, passing, shooting, and puck handling to elite levels while developing advanced hockey IQ and decision-making.
  • Physical Conditioning: Build strength, speed, and endurance to excel in a faster, more physical environment.
  • Mental Toughness: Cultivate resilience, focus, and the confidence to perform under pressure.
  • Leadership & Teamwork: Develop communication skills, compete with purpose, and contribute to team success on and off the ice.

Your Journey to the Next Level:

The U15 program provides a platform to showcase talent and compete against top players. We focus on development, confidence, and a lasting love for the game.

Whether your goal is to play at the highest levels or to keep improving season by season, our U15 program helps you take your game to new heights.

Yours in Hockey,

EVALUATION INFORMATION

What to Expect:

The U15 level is a critical juncture in a hockey player’s development. Our evaluation process is designed to identify players with the potential to compete at the highest levels of the game. The process includes:

  • On-Ice Assessments: Players will showcase their skills and teamwork through drills, scrimmages, and bubble games. Evaluators will focus on skating, passing, puck control, shooting, and work ethic.
  • Scrimmages: Showcase your teamwork, decision-making, and overall hockey IQ in 4-on-4 scrimmages and bubble games.
  • Advanced Skills & Tactical Mastery: At U15, we focus on refining advanced hockey skills and developing a sophisticated understanding of the game.
  • Physical Development & Strength: Physical maturity becomes increasingly important at this level, and players will be evaluated on their ability to compete physically.
  • Competitive Drive & Leadership: We seek players who demonstrate strong leadership qualities, a competitive drive, and the ability to excel under pressure.
  • Team Placement & Development: Evaluation results will be used to create teams capable of competing at a high level while providing opportunities for player growth.

By participating in U15 evaluations, your daughter will have the opportunity to showcase her talent and compete for a spot on a team that will challenge her to reach her full potential.

Important Information:

  • Registration: All players must be fully registered, with registration fees paid in full, before participating in evaluations.
  • Equipment: Players must wear full hockey equipment, including a neck guard, for all skates. Remove names from helmets and cover or remove team stickers. Players must wear plain or Comets socks.
  • Jerseys: Jerseys will be provided for evaluations; this will be their evaluation number for both skill skates.
  • Evaluation Dates: Stay tuned to for specific evaluation dates and times. Regrouping will occur throughout the process—please check the website for regular updates.
  • Evaluators: Player ratings will be completed during evaluation sessions by off-ice, independent evaluators.
  • Volunteer Opportunities: We welcome volunteers to assist with the evaluation process. Sign up at the registration table or contact the division coordinator if interested in gate duties or other roles.

Note: You MUST report to our Comet desk before the second session to register. This is very important to ensure you are being evaluated correctly. If your daughter is unable to attend an evaluation session, please email the coordinator.

How Parents Can Help

Parents play a crucial role in supporting their child’s hockey journey. Here are some tips:

  • Encourage & Support: Offer positive reinforcement and celebrate your child’s efforts, regardless of the outcome.
  • Set Realistic Expectations: Help your child understand that evaluations are a learning experience, and not every player will make the top team.
  • Focus on Development: Emphasize the importance of skill development and having fun over winning.
  • Be a Good Sportsperson: Demonstrate good sportsmanship by cheering for all players—not just your own child.
